Kampung Baru City Centre (for illustration only)

After a number of false starts, there are some signs that the plan to redevelop the 110-year old predominantly Malay reserve land could finally come to fruition. The masterplan calls for a urban regeneration of Kampung Baru to be at par or better than that of Kuala Lumpur's current Golden Triangle area. The redevelopment model aims to turn Kampung Baru into an international commercial-cum-cultural hub with Malay architectural features to retain the Malay history and heritage.

Kampung Baru Riverfront Development (future development)

The Puncak Baru Development (future development)

This is a RM500 million proposed urban redevelopment project that will include a 60-storey iconic residential tower, a 40-storey iconic office tower and a bazaar-like retail podium integrated with the Kampung Baru LRT station. The project will bring the greatest economic spillover effect on Kampung Baru as part of its redevelopment from an urban village to a world-class cultural hub.

It was reported in May 2010 that NAZA Group plans to launch an iconic development on a 3.7-acre site of the current Sunday market in Kampung Baru in the third quarter of 2011. The developer is in the process of revising the masterplan for Puncak Baru for submission to the authorities.

- Arina-Uniti Tower, Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, Kampung Baru

FELCRA Tower, Jalan Semarak (proposed)

The Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority Headquarters, or rather FELCRA Tower is a corporate expression of one of Malaysia's government-linked companies dealing with the economic wellbeing of stake holders to the plantation industry of Malaysia, including palm oil and rubber. The design of the tower targets an accreditation for a GBI rating, thus lending itself heavily on sustainable features. Also, the stem of palm leaf is used as metaphor in expressing the iconic tower at the focal corner of the project site. The office tower is 40 storeys high and the serviced apartment block is 34 storey containing some 500 mixed residential units with comprehensive commercial facilities located within a 12 storey podium base.
